## Configuration Guide

### Onboarding Requirements

Before setting up carrier integrations, ensure you have:

1. **Carrier Contracts**
  1. Active commercial agreements with carriers you want to use
  2. Negotiated shipping rates for return volumes
  3. Account numbers or customer IDs from each carrier
2. **Carrier Credentials**
  1. API keys, authentication tokens, or customer numbers (provided by carrier)
  2. Access to carrier’s online portal (for verification and testing)
3. **Return Warehouse Address**
  1. Physical warehouse or returns facility address configured in Ingrid
  2. Address must be within carrier’s service coverage area
4. **Business Requirements Defined**
  1. Which carriers to offer in which markets
  2. Return shipping cost strategy (free for customer, paid, or tiered)
  3. Customer segments (if offering different options to VIP vs. standard customers)
5. **Technical Coordination**
  1. Coordination with Ingrid implementation team to enable carriers in your account
  2. Testing plan to validate carrier integrations before launch

### Step-by-Step Setup Guide

**Step 1: Access Carrier Configuration**

1. Log in to **Ingrid Returns Back-office** with your admin credentials
2. Navigate to **Returns → Shipment Integrations** in the menu
3. Review any existing carrier integrations already configured

**Step 2: Add New Carrier**

1. Click the **Create integration** button
2. A configuration form appears

**Step 3: Select Your Carrier**

1. Click the **Shipment carrier** dropdown menu
2. Browse available carriers (listed alphabetically)
3. Select the carrier you want to integrate (e.g., UPS, Royal Mail, Budbee)

**Note:** If your preferred carrier isn’t listed, contact Ingrid support to request enablement.

**Step 4: Enter Carrier Details**

The form will show fields specific to your selected carrier. Common fields include:

**For UPS:** 

- Account number (from your UPS contract)
- Company name and address (your business details)
- Contact phone and email
- Trade terms (for international shipments)

**For Budbee:** 

- API key (from Budbee account portal)
- API secret
- Warehouse ID (assigned by Budbee)

**For Royal Mail:** 

- Account number
- Contract reference
- Shipper address and contact details

**Tip:** Have your carrier contract documents and portal login details ready to copy information accurately.

### Step 5: Verify Return Address

- Ensure the warehouse address you enter matches your actual returns facility
- Double-check postal code format (UK: SW1A 1AA, US: 75201)
- Confirm the address is within the carrier’s service area

### Step 6: Save and Test

1. Click **SUBMIT** to save the integration
2. The system validates your credentials with the carrier
3. If successful, the carrier appears in your active integrations list
4. If errors occur, review error message and correct any incorrect details

### Step 7: Test Return Label Generation

**Create a test return:**

1. Use your Returns Portal (or staging environment)
2. Initiate a test return for your own address
3. Select the newly configured carrier
4. Confirm you receive a return label via email
5. Verify label format is correct (PDF or QR code)

**Check for issues:** 

- Label generates within 5 seconds
- Email delivery is immediate
- Label includes correct return address (your warehouse) • Tracking number is present

### Step 8: Activate in Your Return Policy

1. Navigate to **Returns → Price Setups** (your return policy configuration)
2. Ensure the new carrier is included in relevant policies
3. Configure which customers see this carrier (all customers, specific countries, VIP only, etc.)
4. Set whether the carrier is free or paid for customers

### Step 9: Go Live

- Announce new return option to customers (email, website banner, help centre)
- Monitor return volumes using the new carrier
- Check for support tickets related to carrier issues
- Review carrier performance after 2-4 weeks

## Implementation Examples

### Example 1: UK Retailer with Multi-Carrier Setup

**Requirements:**

- Royal Mail for standard returns
- Evri for drop-off convenience
- InPost for locker-based returns

**Configuration:**

**Outcome:**

- Customers in London see all three options
- Rural customers see Royal Mail and Evri (InPost lockers not available)
- Urban customers with nearby InPost lockers see all three options
- Price Setup rules control availability based on customer postal code

### Example 2: Nordic Retailer with Regional Carriers

**Requirements:**

- PostNord for Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland
- Budbee for Sweden (urban home pickup)
- Bring for Norway

**Configuration:**

**Market-Specific Price Setups:**

- Sweden: PostNord (all areas), Budbee (Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö)
- Denmark: PostNord only
- Norway: PostNord and Bring
- Finland: PostNord only

**Outcome:**

- Swedish urban customers see Budbee for convenient home pickup
- All Nordic customers have PostNord as baseline option
- Norwegian customers have Bring as additional local option
- Carrier selection driven by Price Setup preconditions (country, postal code)

### Example 3: US Retailer with Cost Tiers

**Requirements:**

- Low-cost option for standard returns (USPS Ground Advantage)
- Mid-tier option for tracked returns (UPS Ground)
- Premium option for urgent returns (UPS 2nd Day Air)

- USPS Ground Advantage: Always available, free for customer
- UPS Ground: Available for orders >$100, free for customer
- UPS 2nd Day Air: Available for exchanges or orders >$200, customer pays $15

**Outcome:**

- Budget-conscious customers use USPS
- Customers wanting faster processing use UPS Ground
- Urgent exchanges use UPS 2nd Day Air with expedited processing
- Return costs balanced between customer convenience and business cost
